Refund policy

Returns & Refunds Policy

At Strummer Room Records, we take care when grading, describing and packing our records and CDs. We want you to be happy with your purchase and will always aim to resolve any problems fairly.

This policy applies to purchases made through our UK online store at strummerroom.com. Your statutory consumer rights are not affected.

Changing Your Mind – Online Orders

If you purchase an item online, you generally have the right to cancel your order without giving a reason within 14 days after receiving your goods.

To exercise this right, please contact us by email at strummerroom@btinternet.com, stating your name, order number and that you wish to cancel.

You then have a further 14 days from the date you notify us of your cancellation to return the item.

Customers are responsible for paying the direct return postage costs for change-of-mind returns. We recommend using a tracked or insured postal service appropriate to the value of the item and obtaining proof of postage.

Please package returned records and CDs securely to prevent damage in transit. Where possible, use the original packaging.

You may inspect goods as you would in a shop. If an item has been handled beyond what is necessary to establish its nature, characteristics and condition, we may make a deduction from the refund to reflect any resulting reduction in value, where permitted by law.

Refunds for Cancelled Online Orders

Where you exercise your statutory cancellation rights, we will refund the price paid for the returned goods together with the applicable standard outward delivery charge. If you selected a more expensive delivery option, we are only required to refund the cost of our least expensive standard delivery option.

Refunds will be made using the original payment method, unless otherwise agreed.

We will issue your refund within 14 days of receiving the returned goods or receiving evidence that you have sent them back, whichever is earlier.

If you cancel only part of an order, any delivery charge refund will be calculated according to the applicable legal requirements.

Sealed CDs and Audio Recordings

The statutory change-of-mind cancellation right does not generally apply to sealed audio recordings, including sealed CDs, once they have been unsealed after delivery.

This exception does not affect your rights if an item is faulty, damaged or not as described.

Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Items

If you receive an item that is faulty, damaged in transit, incorrectly supplied or not as described, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible at strummerroom@btinternet.com.

Please include your order number and a description of the issue. Photographs can be helpful, particularly for transit damage, but are not a condition of your statutory rights.

Under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described, taking account of relevant circumstances such as their age, price and stated condition.

Where an item does not meet these requirements, you may be entitled to a refund, repair, replacement or price reduction depending on the circumstances and when the issue is reported. Consumers generally have a short-term right to reject faulty goods within 30 days of delivery, with additional rights after that period.

Where a return is required because an item is faulty or not as described, we will cover reasonable return postage costs or arrange an appropriate return method.

Second-Hand Vinyl Records and CDs

Much of our stock is pre-owned and individually graded. We aim to describe the condition of each item accurately, including relevant wear and imperfections.

Normal signs of use and specific defects clearly disclosed in the listing are taken into account when assessing a second-hand item's condition.

However, selling an item as second-hand does not remove your statutory rights. If a record or CD is materially different from its description or has an undisclosed fault that means it does not meet the applicable legal standards, please contact us.

Purchases Made in Our Physical Shop

For purchases made in person at our Banbury shop, there is no automatic statutory right to a refund simply because you change your mind.

This does not affect your statutory rights where goods are faulty or not as described.

Return Address

Please contact us before posting a return so we can help identify your order and provide any necessary instructions. This request does not limit your statutory cancellation rights.
